Trek to Everest Base camp with a climb to Island peak is another most interesting and adventurous journey in the Khumbu region. This trek is challenging than other treks to EBC as it includes climbing of Island Peak. You must be in good physical health but no prior experience of scaling up mountains is required to undertake this journey as it is not difficult to climb and very little technical knowledge will be enough. Our experienced guides will orient you before climbing the Island Peak. In addition to exploring the Island Peak, the trek will involve experiencing the great beauty of mountainous peaks in the Khumbu region including Mount Everest, Mt. Cho yo, Mt. Makalu, Mt.Lhotse, Mt. Ama Dablam and many others. The trek also takes you to the top of Kala Patthar from where you get to have 360° views of mountains around and the closest view of Mount Everest.

The trek will take you through Sherpa villages where you will receive warm hospitality from the Sherpas, often known as mighty climbers. Local hot beverages are served at tea houses along the way with traditional Nepali cuisine. They are sure to fill your taste buds with some unique flavours. Although the community life is not so prosperous, the service they provide is homely and welcoming. Ancient monasteries are seen decorated with prayer wheels and prayer flags which exhibit the religious inclination of Sherpa people towards Buddhist culture.

Itinerary

Upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, we offer you pick up facility from the airport and manage your stay at the most comfortable hotel in the city. You get to meet the team of trekkers and together we prepare for the trek. At the evening we offer you lavish welcome dinner with authentic Nepali Cuisine.

We offer you a short trip to historical and cultural sites around Kathmandu valley: Boudhanath Stupa, Swayambhunath Stupa and Pashupatinath temple. You can also do some souvenir shopping during the sightseeing. After sightseeing, we head back to the hotel and get our clothing and trekking equipment ready and prepare for the trek.

The flight from Kathmandu to Lukla lets you enjoy the beauty of green hills with a background of snowy mountain peaks. The trek begins from Lukla and we head towards Phakding passing through Cheplung village enjoying the sight of Mount Khumbila. We stay for the night at Phakding.

We walk the trail passing through pine forest and crossing Dudh Koshi River. We then reach the entrance to Sagarmatha National Park. Moving ahead, we reach Namche Bazar, the famous Sherpa village. From Namche Bazar, we can have sight of Mount Everest and Mount Lhotse. We spend the night at Namche Bazar.

We stay for a day at Namche Bazar to adjust with the altitude condition. Namche Bazar is the main market area of the region with small local tea houses, restaurants, shops and trading areas around. We explore the areas observing the traditional and cultural Sherpa life. We can also choose to hike to Sagarmatha National Park from where the beautiful sight of Mount Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, AmaDablam and others can be visible. Rare species of flora and fauna can be spotted along the way. We end the day thus and get a good night’s sleep in a hotel at Namche Bazar.

The trek passes through the Dudh Koshi river and along lush rhododendron forest. Heading ahead to Tengboche, the beautiful view of Mount Everest, Mount Lhotse, Mount Nuptse and Mount Ama Dablam greet you along the way. Reaching Tengboche we get to visit the most famous and largest monastery in the region called Tengboche monastery. We conclude the day’s trek at Tengboche.

We leave Tengboche and start the walk downhill through the forest and then crossing the river along the way. Then we walk uphill towards Pagboche, a dense settlement area which lies in the lap of Mount Ama Dablam, Mount Everest and Mount Lhotse. We can see people walking with Yaks carrying the goods. We then reach Somare from where the trail separates towards Pheriche and Dingboche. We take the trail to Pheriche and spend the night there at Pheriche.

We leave Pheriche and head ahead where the trail that leads us towards Imja Valley. From there the steep uphill walk takes us to Dugla. Moving ahead we pass through Khumbu Khola valley and Dughla. From Dughla we get to view Mount Nuptse and Mount Pumori. We move through the trail enjoying the beautiful view of the valley. We reach Lobuche after the uphill climb and finally end the day.

The trail to Everest Base Camp passes through Gorak Shep Lake. The walk ahead takes us to Indian army mountaineers’ memorial. Walking through rocky terrain in such high altitude can wear out the tired body. But upon reaching the Everest Base Camp, the spellbinding view of mountain peaks and colourful tents contrasted against the snowy beauty makes you forget the arduous journey. The area is seen decorated with Buddhist prayer flags. We take pictures and after that, we return back and spend the night at Gorak Shep.

We start our hike early in the morning. After walking some hours we reach the top of Kala Patthar (meaning black rock in local language), which is the sunrise viewing point. From the top, we get to see 360° views of mountains around with the closest view of Mount Everest. Down below we can see the deep and dangerous Khumbu glacier. Also, we can see the gigantic view of Mount Pumori from the top of Kala Patthar. Mount Nuptse, Ama Dablam, Thamserku and many other mountains can be viewed up close from the top. We return back to Lobuche and spend the night there.

We take a trail through Khumbu glacier walking on a slippery icy trail on the way to Kongma La pass- the highest pass in the region. Walking the steep uphill climb to the top of Kongma La pass, we enjoy the majestic view of landscapes and mountain range. We enjoy the view and take pictures. We then follow the trail downhill and head toward Chhukung village and spend the night at Chhukung.

We head toward Island Peak Base Camp from Chhukung taking the steep uphill walk. We follow the southern uphill trail and then catch the eastern trail of the valley. Walking ahead we follow the trail down the southern side of the glacial ridge of Lhotse glacier. Next, we take the flat trail alongside the icy stream. The path ahead takes us to the glacial ridges of Imja and Lhotse glacier. Walking further ahead we reach the Island Peak Base Camp which lies on the south western side of the peak. We spend the night at the base camp.

Today our trekking guides will orient and provide training for climbing Island Peak. You will be informed about different types of climbing equipment and then instructed on ways of properly using the equipment and gears. You will also be informed about using the ropes during scaling up the peak. You need no prior experience of climbing and the instruction provided by our guides will help you to be secured and confident. The night will be spent at the base camp.

We take the steep uphill trail from the base camp through the rocky path. Walking through the rocky areas we take the route through the moraine towards the summit. We make use of ropes whenever required. Our guides will be there to help you in scaling up. Enjoying the majestic view around, we climb further ahead, towards the peak. Upon reaching the summit the success of finally reaching the summit will leave you feeling elated and exhilarated. We take the pictures together and then head back to the base camp. We reflect on our day's climb enjoy together and take a good night’s sleep at the base camp.

We take the downhill walk through the valley and passing Imja river We walk ahead through the Sherpa villages and head ahead towards Pangboche village. We visit the oldest monastery in the village and finally reach the Pangboche village. From there you get to view the beauty of mountain peaks as well as watch the flowing Imja river down below.

We walk ahead from Pangboche through the downhill trail towards the Imja river. The walk then takes us through the rhododendron and pine forests and towards the Tengboche village. Further ahead, we cross the suspension bridge over Dudh Koshi river and take the trail ahead towards the village called Sansa. We continue walking ahead until finally reaching Namche Bazar. We spend the night at Namche Bazar.

We take the rocky trail downward toward Dudh Koshi river. Upon crossing the river we head towards Lukla crossing Monjo (Sagarmatha National Park entry and exit). Walking downhill and crossing the suspension bridge over Bhote Koshi river, we walk ahead to Phakding. From Phakding we catch the trail uphill until finally reaching Lukla. Upon reaching Lukla we give rest to our aching body and spend the night in a lodge.

We take a flight back to Kathmandu and upon reaching Kathmandu we might roam around the city for some souvenir shopping. We organize farewell dinner for you and celebrate the successful completion of trek and exchange final greetings and wishes and prepare for final departure.

Today is the final day and we get ready for the departure. We offer you the facility to drop at the Tribhuvan International Airport. We exchange final greetings and wishes and hope to see each other next time as well. We wish pleasant journey and bid the final goodbye.
