Short Annapurna Circuit trek is one of the most sought after trekking for both the national and international tourists. Generally, it takes about 20 days to complete the trek around the Annapurna circuit. But for those having limited and wishing to trek around the Annapurna region, the short trek around the Annapurna circuit has been specially designed to complete the trek in just 16 days. The major places we will be visiting during this trek are Manang valley, Thorong La Pass, Muktinath, Jomsom, and Pokhara. Moreover, the beautiful Himalayan peaks like Mount Annapurna, Hiuchuli, Pisang peak, Tilicho peak, Gangapurna and many others accompany you throughout the trek, adding beauty and pleasure to the trek. During the trek, we get to visit one of the historical places in Nepal and that is Manang. This place has a historical significance as being the important place for yak and salt trade between Nepal and Tibet. It still remains a trading point in northern Nepal. We get to meet people in the village and hear their stories as well. The Manang valley also offers us the chance to enjoy the beautiful vistas. The Marsyangdi river flowing the valley is a major attraction. In addition, we get to enjoy the beauty of Himalayan peaks as well.
During the trek, we pass through many villages where we get a chance to enjoy the traditional and unique culture of Gurung community. Several Buddhist monasteries, gompas, and chortens decorated with colorful Buddhist flags reflect the people’s inclination towards Buddhist religion. Another interesting place we visit in this trek is Muktinath (God of Salvation), one of the religious places in Nepal. The 108 water sprouts and abundant fossils found in this area make it very special for the tourists and religious people.
Apart from these places we visit in this circuit trek, the striking natural beauty with a magnificent close-up view of the mountain, the ever-expanding vast landscapes, valleys, gorges, waterfalls, passes and hot water springs make this trek the famous and interesting to try for.
Itinerary
Upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, we offer you pick up facility from the airport and manage your stay at the most comfortable hotel in the city. You get to meet the team of trekkers and together we prepare for the trek. At the evening we offer you lavish welcome dinner with authentic Nepali Cuisine.
We offer you a short trip to historical and cultural sites around Kathmandu valley: Boudhanath Stupa, Swayambhunath Stupa and Pashupatinath temple. You can also do some souvenir shopping during the sightseeing. After sightseeing, we head back to the hotel and get our clothing and trekking equipment ready and prepare for the trek.
We start our drive early in the morning and head west from Kathmandu. We enjoy the view of beautiful landscapes and settlement area during the journey. The bus heads ahead towards Dumre and from there, towards Besisahar. From there the journey continues till we reach Bhulbhule enjoying the view of Marsyangdi river flowing alongside.
We start our trek from Bhulbhule and head towards Ghermu Phat for the night stay. Along the way, we pass through Nandibazar, Dovanchaur and Bahundanda. There are bus stops and many villages around. Also, we get to enjoy the natural beauty. We walk until reaching Ghermu Phat. There is a vast terraced filed where people grow rice. We stay for the night at Ghermu Phat.
We continue our trek through the Annapurna route. We come across the downhill trail descending towards Syange. Moving ahead from Syange we reach the suspension bridge over Marsyangdi river. We cross the bridge and take the trail towards Jagat. We pass through school and temple on our way. The uphill walk will then take us to Ghatte Kholagaon and Purano Jagat. These places have fewer human settlements. On the way, we get to enjoy the beauty of the magnificent waterfall. Shortly then we reach Chyamche and walk until reaching Tal. We stay for the night there.
Leaving Tal behind we follow the uphill trail alongside the Marsyangdi river and head towards Karte, also called Khotro. From there we shortly reach Dharapani. This place has more facilities. There are temples and monasteries. From Dharapani we head towards Bagarchhap. Moving ahead we pass Timang and Thankchowk and finally reach Chame. Chame is the headquarter of Manang district and there is also a unique large white gate. We stay for the night at Chame.
The trek starts early from Chame towards Talekhu. We continue following the Annapurna route and walk ahead. We then reach Bharatang. After a short walk ahead we reach Chemyau Kharka where there is a memorial to Japanese mountaineer Akira Ochiai. We continue our walk and shortly reach Swargadwari bridge. Crossing the bridge and walking or sometime will take us to Dhikur Pokhari. We enjoy the beauty lush green forests around. The area is rich in natural beauty. We then keep walking until reaching Lower Pisang. The night will be spent at Lower Pisang.
Today we leave Lower Pisang and head for Manag. We will be doing many uphill and downhill walk today. Our first stop will be Ghyaru. The village has the sparse population and has a monastery. From there we head towards Humde passing through Mani walls on our way. From there the trail heads towards Nawal. We walk for quite a long time and reach Mugje. We pass through many temples and Gompas on our way. The trail then takes us to Bhraka. We then cross the bridge over the Ghatte Khola and finally reach Manang. The night will be spent there.
Today is the acclimatization day to adjust our body to the rising altitude and take a good rest. We explore the areas observing the traditional and cultural life of Gurung community. We observe their lifestyle from near and interact with them. We end the day thus and get a good night’s sleep in a lodge at Manang.
Today there will be a mostly uphill walk. We start the trek walking towards Ghusang with Thorung river flowing on the left. We pass the human settlement area and then cross the mani wall and reach Ghayanchang. A little ahead there is a bridge over Ghyanchang river. We cross the river and walk ahead. We move ahead passing Thorung Khola. The area has vast grassland and there are tea shops around the area. We walk ahead towards Yak Kharka and finally reach there at the altitude of 4,050m. The area has few human settlements.
From Yak Kharka we walk ahead uphill towards Ledar. We then reach the ledar and walk ahead towards Kone Khola. Enjoy the breathtaking views of the stunning snow-capped peaks around on our way and crossing the bridge over the river. From there, walk towards the local tea house. We then reach tea house. There is a landslide area on our way to Thorong Phedi and we have to be extra careful in this area. From there, we walk for a while and reach Thorong Phedi and we will be spending the night there.
We start our walk leaving Thorong Base Camp behind and walk uphill towards Thorong La pass. It is the world’s widest pass. From there the trail takes us steep downhill through Thorong Khola and passing Champarbuk. Further ahead we reach a barren and hilly area. From there the trail takes us to Muktinath. It is the place with huge religious significance both for Hindus and Buddhists. There are many other temples around the area. People take bath in the 108 water sprouts with a belief that it will clean away the sins and consider the water holy. We explore the area and spend the night at Muktinath.
Today we will be heading towards Jomsom. We will pass through many villages on our way to Jomsom. We take a walk downhill and then along the bank of Kaligandaki river. We might have to face the strong wind on our way to Jomsom. We pass through Jhong and Putak on our way. We also get to enjoy the beauty of Jhong Khola. We then leave the trail to upper Mustang and catch the trail to Kagbeni. From there we head downhill towards Ekle Bhatti and finally to Jomsom. Upon reaching Jomsom we will take rest and prepare for our night stay at the lodge there.
We take an early flight from Jomsom to Pokhara. We spend the day exploring the lake city and other religious, historical and tourist places around. We will be spending the night in a lodge at Pokhara.
Today we head back to Kathmandu by bus from Pokhara. We take good rest and soothe our aching muscles. We also muse over the exciting trek we had. At Kathmandu, we organize farewell dinner for you and celebrate the successful completion of the trek and prepare for final departure.
Today is the final day and we get ready for the departure. We offer you the facility to drop at the Tribhuvan International Airport. We exchange final greetings and wishes and hope to see each other next time as well. We wish pleasant journey and bid the final goodbye.
