Everest Gokyo Lakes Trek is another interesting and adventurous journey around Everest region. The trek offers you the spectacular view of the Everest region along with a chance to enjoy the thrill of being at the highest Renjo La Pass and enjoy the scenic beauty of Himalayan vista around. The major attraction of the trek is walking through the Renjo la pass and reaching the Gokyo valley. The walk through the Everest region provides you the delightful and close view of world’s tallest peaks - Mount Everest, Mount Lhotse, Mount Cho Yo and others.
Everest Gokyo Lakes trek passes through traditional Sherpa villages and colorful Buddhist monasteries where you can know more about the lifestyle of Sherpa peoples and their culture and tradition. You can also enjoy local authentic dishes at tea houses during the trek. You can also relish the beauty of forest along the way. Rare species of flora and fauna spotted around Sagarmatha National Park adds charm to the scenic beauty. You can also cherish the exquisite beauty of Gokyo valley and enjoy the stunning panoramic views of long Himalayan range from the high pass of Renjo La. The trek takes you to a beautiful viewpoint of Gokyo Ri from where you can have spectacular views of Himalayan vista and stunning beauty of Gokyo Lakes and Ngozumba glacier.
Itinerary
Upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport we offer you pick up facility from the airport and manage your stay at the most comfortable hotel in the city. You get to meet the team of trekkers and together we prepare for the trek. At the evening we offer you lavish welcome dinner with authentic Nepali Cuisine.
We offer you short trip to historical and cultural sites around Kathmandu valley: Boudhanath Stupa, Swayambhunath Stupa and Pashupatinath temple. You can also do some souvenir shopping during the sightseeing. After sightseeing we head back to hotel and get our clothing and trekking equipment ready and prepare for the trek.
The flight from Kathmandu to Lukla lets you enjoy the beauty of green hills with a background of snowy mountain peaks. The trek begins from Lukla and we head towards Phakding passing through Cheplung village enjoying the sight of Mount Khumbila. We stay for the night at Phakding.
We walk the trail passing through pine forest and crossing Dudh Koshi River. We then reach entrance to Everest National Park. Moving ahead, we reach Namche Bazaar, the famous Sherpa village. From Namche Bazaar we can have sight of Mount Everest and Mount Lhotse. We spend the night at Namche Bazaar.
We stay for a day at Namche Bazaar to adjust with the altitude condition. Namche Bazaar is the main market area of the region with small local tea houses, restaurants, shops and trading areas around. We explore the areas observing the traditional and cultural Sherpa life. We can also choose to hike to Sagarmatha National Park from where the beautiful sight of Mount Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam and others can be visible. Rare species of flora and fauna can be spotted along the way. We end the day thus and get a good night’s sleep in hotel at Namche Bazaar.
We take the trail uphill from Namche Bazaar and walk ahead towards Kyangjuma. From there you get to have spectacular sights of mountainous beauty. Mount Everest, Mount Nuptse, Mount Ama Dablam and various other peaks can be viewed up close from Kyangjuma. Then we take a trail uphill through rhododendron forest and towards Mongla pass .Then we reach Mongla pass .From there, we take a step downhill trail until reaching the bank of the Dudh Koshi river. We leave the river and ascending towards Dole through pine and rhododendron forest. We spend the night in a lodge at Dole.
We take a walk uphill from Dole passing through local tea houses where we can rest and enjoy the scenic beauty. We then head north and can view snowy peaks around. The vegetation and human settlement in this area is sparse and is surrounded with rocky peaks. We then do some uphill and downhill climbing and reach Ngozumba glacier. The trail ahead takes us to Machhermo which has few human settlement areas. We take good night’s rest at Machhermo.
The day’s destination is Gokyo valley where the trek passes through uphill and flat walk to the base of rocky mountain. We then cross the bridge and reach the first Gokyo lake: Longponga Tsho. We take the trail ahead towards second Gokyo lake: Taujing Tsho. We then take a walk ahead through the glacier area and reach third Gokyo lake: Gokyo Tsho. Various lodges are scattered around the lakeside. We take a rest enjoying the breathtaking view of landscapes around. We spend the time exploring the lakes and glacier. We spend the night at one of the lodges in Gokyo.
We spend the day exploring the valley and adjusting the body to the changing environmental situation and increasing altitude. We take photographs enjoying the spectacular snowy beauty around. We hike around the glacier and up to Gokyo Ri from where you can view six beautiful Gokyo lakes. We then walk down and return to the lodge. We spend the night at Gokyo valley.
We will walk ahead from Gokyo towards Maralung. We take the downhill trail that will lead us to Renjo La Pass. After walking about three hours we will reach the highest point of the pass. From the top we can enjoy the majestic view of Mount Everest, Lhotse, Taboche and many others. We will then descend through the trail along the Bhote Khosi river. We will then finally reach Maruleng. Overnight at Maruleng.
We will leave Maralung and head towards Thame today. We will walk through the usual trekking route. This route was as a trading route in the ancient times. We will then come across Bhote Koshi river. After crossing the river we will take the trail going downhill to Taranga. We will then walk along the wide valley and reach the village of Thame soon. The village is surrounded by glistening beauty of white peaks. Night at Thame.
We will leave Thame early in the morning and start marching ahead towards Namche Bazaar. We will pass through hydroelectricity power station on our way. We will cross gompas, and chhortens decorated with prayer flags. We will also walk past number of mani walls alongside the trails. We will then finally reach Namche Bazaar. We will stay for the night at the lodge there.
We take the rocky trail downward toward Dudh Koshi river. Upon crossing the river we head towards Lukla crossing Monjo (Sagarmatha National Park entry and exit). Walking downhill and crossing the suspension bridge over Bhote Koshi river, we walk ahead to Phakding. From Phakding we catch the trail uphill until finally reach Lukla. Upon reaching Lukla we give a rest to our aching body and spend the night in a lodge.
We take a flight back to Kathmandu and upon reaching Kathmandu we might roam around the city for some souvenir shopping. We organize farewell dinner for you and celebrate successful completion of trek and exchange final greetings and wishes and prepare for final departure.
Today is the final day and we get ready for the departure. We offer you the facility to drop at the Tribhuvan International Airport. We exchange final greetings and wishes and hope to see each other next time as well. We wish pleasant journey and bid the final goodbye.
